This is my first post so in honor of it I called it Hello World (anybody who has programmed understands the title). Here is a little about myself. I'm a 28 year old PhD candidate in Materials Science. I was one of those people who worked for a few years in industry before deciding to go back to school full-time. I plan graduating in the Fall '09. Needless to say, my life will be busy from now till next summer.
What are the things you're going to find in this blog? Superficially, you won't see a single indentation in a paragraph; blame it on the years of technical writing. Technically, you will find this blog contains a lot of good insight pertaining to the physical sciences. At least a couple of times a week I'll post some problems that I've been thinking about and my reflections on them. This will not strictly be a Materials Science blog because topics in pure physics do interest me. I will not post any links to science ebooks on this blog, but if you want to download a library of science ebooks it's really not that to do.
Why am I creating this blog? Well it's better way to spend my free time than playing video games. Seriously, a blog like this is very productive because it helps me organize my thoughts in a coherent manner. I also want to help other people learn. More importantly, I live in a country where there are more lawyers than scientists, and more MBA degrees than MS degrees. I think if more people in this country appreciated science it wouldn’t be this way.
At the very least, I hope you find this blog useful.
